Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC) takes part in the annual travel and tourism fair World Travel Market.

Every year, hundreds of delegations make their marks in London, UK at the World Travel Market. However this year due to the coronavirus pandemic and travel restrictions still placed by many countries, WTM is taking place virtually.

World Travel Market 2020 commenced virtually yesterday, and will continue until tomorrow.

MMPRC with Visit Maldives brand, is joined by five other industry partners; Sun Siyam Resorts, Villa Hotels & Resorts, Kaimoo Hotels & Resorts, Radisson Blu Resorts Maldives and Robinson Club Maldives.

Thoyyib Mohamed, Managing Director of MMPRC, believes the virtual WTM 2020 is a brilliant opportunity to promote Maldives as one of the safest tourist destinations in the world right now.

"WTM Virtual 2020 is one the leading global events for the travel and tourism industry. By participasting in this event, we hope to assure travellers that Maldives is indeed a safe destination to travel to. Our aim is to increase our brand visibility and awareness to increase tourist arrivals during this time," said Thoyyib.

The virtual fair this year takes place in the form of one-to-one online meetings, speed networking events, and live conference sessions, forums and seminars. Most of the sessions will be based on tackling the COVID-19 pandemic with trendy and innovative solutions to suit the situation.

Maldives was one of the first countries to reopen borders after the coronavirus pandemic hit, in mid-July 2020. Since then, some 40,000 tourists visited Maldives, including some very famous faces.

As more airlines are restarting services to Maldives and the upcoming festive season, more visitors from around the world are expected.
