Hery Kuswoyo has been named as its new general manager, according to a statement from Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru. Hery is a seasoned executive who was raised here and has 30 years of significant experience in the high-end hotel sector. In his new position, Hery will be in charge of both resort properties' operations teams, elevating the delivery of great service to guests while attaining the desired business goals and outcomes.
As the Executive Assistant Manager - Food & Beverage at Banyan Tree Bangkok, Hery first joined the Banyan Tree family in 2010. He was appointed to Banyan Tree Macau for its pre-opening in the same year and has subsequently worked on various duties at several locations bearing the Banyan Tree name. One of the highlights of his job, according to him, was pretending to be the hotel manager at Banyan Tree Phuket and Angsana Laguna Phuket in 2015 and to be the director of regional operations at Banyan Tree's corporate office in Singapore in 2016.
Hery's duties in the latter position included responding to operational concerns expressed by General Managers and working with them to determine the most practical and effective way to solve those concerns. His contributions were crucial in ensuring that such problems were avoided before they occurred as a highly accomplished executive with a broad understanding of the international hospitality business.
Prior to joining the Banyan Tree Group, Hery held positions in upscale hotel chains like Hyatt, JW Marriott, Four Seasons, and The Ritz-Carlton in nations like the US, Asia, and the Middle East. During these positions, Hery earned vast experience in a variety of management roles. Hery made a reappearance in hotel operations in 2020 and has a proven track record for creating and implementing organizational structures in pre-opening tourist properties. He came back as Homm Saranam Bali's pre-opening general manager, one of the newest businesses promoted by the Banyan Tree Group.
Originally from Indonesia, Hery is always inspired and passionate about working with dynamic teams from multi-cultural backgrounds. As he takes on this new challenge and chapter of his career in the Maldives he enthused “Coming to the Maldives is like going home to Bali. The genuine care of the people and island life we encounter daily motivate me to work closer with my team here at Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru and Dhawa Ihuru. The richness of the ocean with hundreds of living creatures to learn allow us to bond and have fun outside office hours – just like meeting my friends every single day.”
Hery enjoys riding large motorcycles and occasionally swings his golf club in his free time. He is a die-hard Harley Davidson devotee. Since his employment began in the Maldives, he is eager to begin taking diving lessons as soon as possible.
