CROSSROADS Maldives is preparing for the next two-day Eid al-Fitr celebration, a significant occasion for the local community. Eid al-Fitr marks the completion of the holy month of Ramadan, a period of fasting from dawn to sunset observed by Muslims worldwide, and is scheduled to take place on 22 April 2023, subject to the official sighting of the moon.

Guests at CROSSROADS Maldives may look forward to a wide choice of engaging activities during the Eid celebrations. This year's festivities will include a variety of exclusive feasts, cultural performances, and traditional activities, all of which will be available to Crossroads resort in-house guests and day visitors to The Marina. The festivities will last two days, from April 22 to April 23, 2023, giving attendees plenty of opportunity to enjoy themselves.

Day 1

On the first day of Eid, guests will be treated to a spectacular cultural extravaganza in the shape of the Maali dance, a traditional dance passed down from generation to generation. This one-of-a-kind dance is performed by males dressed in traditional clothing, joined by legendary characters inspired by African tribal dancers.

The Maali Parade will begin at 16:00 hours at the Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and will proceed over the Musikee bridge, concluding in a Cultural Eid Show at the SAii Beach Club. The concert will include live performances of Boduberu, a type of traditional music, and Fenkulhi, a joyful water fight in which everyone participates.

Day 2

On the second day, CROSSROADS Maldives will host the much-anticipated Street Market at The Marina, which will be inspired by the colorful Asian weekend street markets and will feature an array of stalls selling freshly prepared cuisines and diverse merchandise. The Street Market at The Marina will now be hosted every Friday, as originally announced earlier this month, providing a unique chance for all registered businesses to promote and sell their products with free stalls.

The Street Market has been a great success since its start in 2020, giving a useful platform for small companies and budding artists from across the country.

“At CROSSROADS Maldives, we understand the value of honoring and preserving cultural traditions and we are delighted to share this joyous occasion with all our guests. Traditionally, the Eid-Al-Fitr celebrations were held for our team members, however, over the past two years, we have extended the festivities to include all our guests from Crossroads residents, The Marina day visitors to Resorts’ in-house guests. We believe that this inclusive approach to celebrating cultural traditions not only creates a sense of community but also fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of different cultures. We are proud to offer our guests an opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage of the Maldives” said Tolga Unan, Managing Director, Hard Rock Hotel Maldives and CROSSROADS Marina.
