Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa, a premium resort in the Lhaviyani atoll, has announced the hiring of Asaf Tasdan as the property's new Executive Chef. In his new role, Chef Tasdan will be in charge of all the food and beverage establishments on the island resort, including the recently remodelled Riviera Tapas & Bar.
Chef Tasdan has held a variety of positions at upscale locations in the Middle East and has a wealth of experience working in the hospitality sector. This includes bookings at the famous JW Marriot Doha and The Nile Ritz-Carlton Hotel.
Le Méridien Maldives, a pioneer in sustainability, has its own hydroponic greenhouse called "The Greenhouse" that produces fresh, green veggies for the resort cooks and nearby islands. It is supported by cutting-edge technology and covers an area of 480 square meters, including an automated watering system that collects and reuses rainwater. Chef Tasdan is dedicated in creating delicious meals with locally sourced fresh ingredients during his tenure.
Speaking about his appointment, Chef Tasdan comments “I am delighted to join the team at Le Méridien Maldives Resort & Spa, it is a stunning location and has a fantastic range of dining options for guests. I share their vision of sustainability, it is fantastic on an island setting to be able to access such a wonderful array of produce and I cannot wait to start incorporating these into my dishes.”
Visitors to Le Méridien Maldives can sample a variety of culinary delights at one of the hotel's six dining establishments, each of which offers a distinctive international dining experience. This comprises the recently renovated Riviera Tapas & Bar, Latitude, Turquoise, Waves Café, and the Japanese restaurant Tabemasu.
