In an effort to introduce the Sunny Side of Life to the Nordic travel industry and customers, The Maldives Marketing & Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) attended the MAKTA Nordic Travel Fair 2023.

Following a two-year absence, MMPRC returns to the fair with 13 Maldives-based business partners. From January 19 to 22, the event took place at Messukeskus Helsinki Expo & Convention Center in Helsinki, Finland.

Over 1000 travel and tourism organizations and destinations from more than 80 different countries attended MAKTA, the largest travel fair in Northern Europe. The Maldives' brand exposure in the Nordic market will increase thanks to MMPRC's participation in this fair, which is expected to draw 68,000 visitors this year.
It will also make it easier for business partners to network widely. The Maldivian tourism sector would be able to gain insightful knowledge regarding regional industry trends and patterns as a result.

At the MAKTA 2023, a striking Maldives display was erected in an effort to showcase the attraction and beauty of the tranquil islands. The stand featured welcoming and cosy seating for business-to-business interactions between industry partners and trade show attendees, as well as a conventional area for guests to relax in.

Visitors was able to use unique Maldives-themed social media filters to post here, and they also received a calligraphy bookmark as a present. In addition, they were offered the chance to sample the numerous treats at the booth to learn more about the island country's cuisine.

The wealthy Nordic market is a growingly popular and prospective market for the Maldives' tourism business. 30,393 tourists from the region visited the nation in 2022, and MMPRC carried out a number of marketing initiatives last year. In order to further enhance and deepen destination presence in this developing market, numerous additional actions are planned for this year, including campaigns with airlines, tour operators, and other suppliers in the travel sector.
