World Wildlife Conservation Day (WWDC) is observed across the globe, annually, on December 4 and this year, Nova Maldives has chosen to commemorate the occasion and make an impact. In this regard, the resort is incorporating bespoke Maldivian Flora and Fauna workshops into the weekly guest activities.

The Maldives are known primarily for their rich variety of marine life and coral habitats, but they are also home to a wide variety of land creatures. Fruit bats, herons, striated heron (locally known as raa bondhi), water hens, and garden lizards are among the fauna that is frequently observed, and every island boasts the national tree, the coconut palm. Ficus, screw pine, and the nation's flower, the Pink Rose, are also observed in island landscapes, giving the sandy coasts an attractive look.

Information on extravagant live coral reef and underwater garden that surround Nova will be disseminated to visitors during the seminars on Maldivian Flora and Fauna, and details on the amazing island animals and plants that adorn the Maldivian shoreline will also be presented. Instilling a desire to conserve through this will help visitors better grasp the behaviors and significance of nature and wildlife conservation.

Additionally, working closely with the Nova team would enable visitors to obtain essential knowledge about minimizing adverse effects on wildlife ecosystems and giving back to nature through contributions and conservation. In order to achieve this, Nova has enabled donations to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), which will be used to hire and supply wildlife guardians. Of course, everyone staying at Nova is welcome to participate in the activities for free.

The Nova's Coral Frame Sponsorship program is just one of the many sustainability projects initiated at the resort. Under this program, visitors are encouraged to sponsor a coral frame so that it can be planted in the Nova Coral garden, improving the ecosystem. Following the sponsor, Nova will provide them with online updates about the coral frame they have supported, including real-time photos of the coral's progress.
