An agreement has been signed with Kaani Hotels - a company operating an extensive amount of guesthouses in the Maldives - for the construction of a 250-bed city hotel in Ukulhas in Haa Alifu Atoll.

Abdulla Nasheed, the chairman of Kaani Hotels and the president of the Guesthouse Association of the Maldives (GAM), revealed that the ten-story hotel is being constructed on a spacious 8,000-square-foot site.

The hotel, which overlooks the pristine beach, will be the biggest ever constructed in Ukulhas.

At present, the biggest guesthouse on the island only has 40 beds. Nasheed claimed that he had made the decision to construct a guesthouse at the location as the island was well-liked by visitors from Russia, Spain, and Italy.

"There is 1.5 hectares of beach area on the island. Ukulhas is popular with tourists," he said.

The building of the guesthouse will be finished in two years, according to Kaani Hotels.

Four guesthouses are currently operated by Kaani Hotels in K. Maafushi. These establishments have a total of 400 beds. Additionally, Kaani operates a 26-bed guesthouse in Male' City, the nation's capital.
