Maldives has secured the prestigious honour of being crowned Indian Ocean's Leading Destination at the 2022 World Travel Awards for the 15th time, the third consecutive time since 2020.
This year's reiteration of the World Travel Awards - Africa and Indian Ocean - was held in the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi, Kenya. Since its founding in 1993, it has honoured and celebrated excellence in the tourist industry's many sectors across the globe.
Maldives have taken home a host of other accolades as well, such as Indian Ocean's Leading Dive Destination for the sixth consecutive year and Indian Ocean's Leading Beach Destination for the ninth consecutive year.
Indian Ocean's Leading Airport has also been awarded to the Maldives' own Velana International Airport, with Hulhule Island Hotel winning Indian Ocean's Leading Airport Hotel. Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation has also won the Indian Ocean's Leading Tourist Board for the second time in a row.
