Mohamed Solah has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of Crown & Champa Resorts – an award-winning hotel chain that manages multiple tourist properties in Maldives, including Meeru Island Resort & Spa; where Solah began his career two decades back, as a receptionist.
Fresh out of college, Solah joined Meeru as a receptionist in 2002. He was promoted to front desk supervisor barely a year later. He worked at Meeru for over a decade, during which time he continued to move up the career ladder, and pursued his higher education overseas. He was the rooms division manager when he left Meeru in 2013, in charge of overseeing multiple departments.
He was appointed as director of operations at Vilamendhoo Island Resort & Spa, another property managed by Crown & Champa Resorts, in 2014.
Solah went on to serve in managerial posts in various luxury resorts, including Amilla Fushi, Hurawalhi Island Resort, Komandoo Island Resort, and Zaya Nurai Island – located in Abu Dhabi.
He moved to Dubai in 2021 following his appointment as cluster general manager at Zaya Hospitality.
And now, he is back in Maldives as COO of Crown & Champa Resorts.
Solah wrote in his LinkedIn page that as a young boy, he had wanted to become a professional footballer, before he channeled his desire for a dynamic and rewarding lifestyle into a career in hospitality.
Much to the English Premier League’s loss, he joked.
Today, Solah is one of the most respected hoteliers in Maldives.
“What keeps me ahead of the game are the following behaviors: the ability to think on my feet, supportive, a strong focus on results, and solving problems effectively and efficiently. I thrive on putting my knowledge and skills to good use and utilize my positivity to establish, and nourish, relationships with the properties' stakeholders as well as guests,” wrote Solah.
