Lufthansa has commenced direct flights between the Maldives and Germany. 

The airline will be holding flights between the Maldives and Germany twice every week on every Wednesday and Sunday. 

The airline had held flights to the Maldives before the COVID-19 lockdown and will be holding flights for the summer season as well. 

Travelers to the Maldives are required to present a 96-hour negative PCR test. So far, since the Maldives reopened its borders on July 15, the nation had received more than 31,000 tourists. 

More and more airlines are also commencing travel to the Maldives targeted for the peak tourist season. They include Gulf Air and Azur Air. 

Maldives had received a total of 382,760 tourists before the nation closed its borders in March. This was an average of 4,206 tourists per day. So far in 2020, Maldives has received 414,648 tourists in total, including the tourist arrival figures since reopening.
