Dubai-based low-cost airline flydubai has resumed its flights to the Maldives after a two-year hiatus.
flydubai's flight FZ1569 landed at Malé's Velana International Airport this afternoon, bringing in many travelers originating and catching connections from Dubai.
"Our first flight to the Maldives has just touched down in Male. It feels so good to be back flying to one of our favorite destinations!" said flydubai in a Facebook post.
flydubai will be flying to Maldives four times a week--on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The airline has also reappointed Inner Maldives Holidays as General Sales Agent (GSA) in the Maldives.
flydubai recently introduced a free global cover package for COVID-19 for passengers booking with the airline for travel between 1st September and 30th November 2020. Under the coverage, passenger's health and quarantine expenses will be covered if diagnosed with COVID-19 during their trip.
On the other hand, Maldives now requires travelers to present a negative COVID-19 test not more than 96 hours prior to entering the country. The test results are to be submitted along with an online health declaration form before arrival in the Maldives.
Many big names in aviation are resuming flights to the Maldives in time for the upcoming festive season and winter in the northern hemisphere. On the other hand, Maldives' main international airport Velana International is bustling with chartered private jet movements this October, and expects more in the coming months too.
