Those waiting to visit the Maldives in South Africa, are in for good news as Air Seychelles preps to commence operations to Maldives.
Multiple international travel media outlets have reported that the airline will be commencing operations between Johannesburg, South Africa and Maldives from December 4 to January 9. The operations are targeted for the New Year period.
Air Seychelles will hold flights to the Maldives every Friday and Sunday and will transit at Seychelles.
Seychelles has also reopened its borders to tourism, much like the Maldives.
A tourism update report by the Maldivian Tourism Ministry stated that more and more airlines are set to commence operations to the Maldives soon.
They include:
- Austrian Airlines (Austria)
- Lufthansa (Germany)
- Fly Dubai (UAE)
- Gulf Air (Bahrain)
- GoAir (India)
- Nordwind (Russia)
- Azur Air (Russia)
Maldives had received a total of 382,760 tourists before the nation closed its borders in March due to COVID-19. This was an average of 4,206 tourists per day. So far in 2020, Maldives has received 414,648 tourists with more than 31,000 tourists since the nation reopened in July.
