Emerald Maldives, a 5-star deluxe property in Maldives, has been nominated for World's Leading New Resort award in this year's World Travel Awards.
Located on the 20-hectare island of Fasmendhoo in Raa Atoll, the modern and elegantly designed Emerald Maldives features 120 villas--60 on land and 60 over water.
This year, a total of five properties from around the world are running for the World's Leading New Resort award. They are:
- Cabrits Resort & Sopa Kempinski Dominica
- Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa
- Isla Bella Beasch Resort, Florida
- Lefay Resort & SPA Dolomiti, Italy
- Premier Village Ha Long Bay Resort, Vietnam
Guests and travel professionals can vote for Emerald Maldives as World Travel Award 2020's World's Leading New Resort, via the World Travel Awards website. Voting lines will be open until October 25, 2020.
World Travel Awards 2020 Grand Final Gala will be held on November 27, 2020 in Moscow, Russia.
Previously in 2016, one property from Maldives had won the World Travel Award for World's Leading New Resort--aaaVeee Nature's Paradise on Dhoores Island, Dhaalu Atoll.
Emerald Maldives opened its doors in November 2019, and has successfully maintained a 5-star rating on TripAdvisor.
After briefly closing due to COVID-19 and the border closures, Emerald Maldives reopened last August. In September, Emerald Maldives also opened the Maldives' first Amazònico cuisine restaurant.
