Qatar Airways has always been a trendsetter in the aviation industry. The airline, well known for its high standards is living up to this reputation with the introduction of à la carte vegan dishes for its business class passengers.
Passengers have been previously offered the chance to pre-order vegan meals. However, the airline is now stepping things up with the introduction of fully vegan options to its à la carte menu for business class passengers. The options are available on all flights from Doha as well as select flights to Doha, and is intended to cater to the growing demand for plant-based food among the customer base of the airline.
Qatar Airways said in a statement, that the airline's move to offering these tasty meals were in response to passenger demand.
“We are delighted to incorporate a vegan main course choice to our on-board menu,” says Mr Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, “We always strive to provide our customers with authentic and indulgent experiences in the skies.”
Qatar Airways offers smoked moutabel, spiral courgettes and arrabbiata sauce, tofu and spinach tortellini, asian barbecue tofu, noodles, scallions and shiitake, fried tofu with vegetable tajine, cauliflower couscous and kalamata bruschetta, and chickpea flour omelet on its à la carte vegan menu.
The new items on the menu come from the Qatar Aircraft Catering Company located at Doha’s Hamad International Airport and will be on par with the high-quality items for which the airline is well-known for.
The airline is often touted as second to none with its reputation for fine in-flight food. The airline is also renowned for making long haul trips extremely convenient and full of leisure of flying and fine food offerings simply mean that the experience is raised to a whole new level.
On its website, Qatar Airways has a number of meal plan menus on display. They include Vegetarian meals completely free of animal products, Fruit platters consisting only of dry fruits and seasonal fresh fruit, Raw vegetarian meal for those special customers who prefer only raw vegetables with a variety of fresh fruit, Vegetarian lacto-OVO meals which is a vegetarian meal that includes eggs and dairy products and last but not least the Vegetarian oriental meal which is an oriental style vegetarian meal.
