Four underwater restaurants in the Maldives are competing for the World's Leading Underwater Hotel Restaurant award in this year's World Travel Awards.
The award for World's Leading Underwater Hotel Restaurant was introduced to the World Travel Awards in 2015. Since then, only the underwater restaurants located in the Maldives had been nominated to the award.
This year, four out of the six underwater restaurants in the Maldives compete for the World's Leading Underwater Restaurant 2020. They are:
- 5.8 Undersea Restaurant at Hurawalhi Maldives
- Ithaa Undersea Restaurant at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island (won in 2019)
- Sea at Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas (won in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018)
- Subsix at Niyama Private Islands Maldives
Sea at Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas won the World's Leading Underwater Restaurant award in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, while 2019's winner was Ithaa Undersea Restaurant at Conrad Maldives Rangali Island. Ithaa Undersea Restaurant, opened in 2005, holds the world's first underwater restaurant.
Lines are open for online voting on the World Travel Awards website until 25th October 2020, and travel professionals and consumers are encouraged to register and vote. World Travel Awards 2020 Grand Final Gala will be held on 27th November 2020 in Moscow, Russia.
Maldives has two other underwater restaurants--H20 by Lago at You & Me by Cocoon, and M6m at Ozen by Atmosphere at Maadhoo.
