Soneva, which operates some of the most ultra-luxury travel establishments in the Maldives is marking its 25th anniversary.

The resort chain which originally began as Soneva Resorts and Residences commenced operations in 1995 with the opening of Soneva Fushi.

Commemorating 25-years of operations, Soneva's founder Sonu Shivdasani tweeted today that he was proud to announce that Soneva was marking 25 years since opening up.

The chain was founded by Sonu Shivdasani and Eva Malmström Shivdasani who are some of the most well-known figures in the Maldivian tourism industry for their roles as industry pioneers. Soneva is also looked to as one of the best when it comes to sustainability and environmental conservation initiatives paired with ultra-luxury hospitality experience.

“Eva and I are incredibly proud to celebrate this milestone silver anniversary,” says Sonu. “Over the last 25 years, we have created a new benchmark for luxury and experiential travel. As a business, we understand the importance of crafting enriching, exceptional experiences for our guests and will continue to evolve with their needs in order to surpass their expectations while remaining true to our sustainable ethos and intelligent luxury.”

Today, the chain operates and manages the Soneva Fushi and Soneva Jani in the Maldives, as well as Soneva Kiri in Thailand. Apart from the resorts, Soneva also owns and manages a two-bedroom luxury yacht, named as Soneva in Aqua.
