Emirates will be flying daily to the Maldives starting this Wednesday.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), operator of the country's main international gateway Velana International Airport said in a tweet, that the Dubai-based airline will be starting an additional frequency starting 7th October 2020.
Emirates will be using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft for its Dubai-Malé daily services.
The airline resumed flights to Maldives after three months of hiatus due to COVID-19, in mid-July. Currently Emirates flies six days a week to Maldives.
As the travel and tourism sector is slowly picking up after the downfall in the wake of COVID-19, more airlines are resuming their services to the Maldives with every passing week.
Until now, famous in aviation such as Qatar Airways, Etihad, Edelweiss, Aeroflot, Turkish Airlines, SriLankan Airlines and Air India have resumed flights to the Maldives. Dubai-based low-cost carrier flydubai is seeking to resume flights to Maldives this month after two years, while British Airways has confirmed their seasonal winter service to Maldives this year too. Singapore Airlines's subsidiary regional airline SilkAir will also resume Singapore-Malé services this December.
Maldives is a World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) certified Safe Travels destination, and travelers are required to present a COVID-19 negative test result of no more than 72 hours prior to entry into Maldives.
