Chef Patron Tom Sellers of London’s two-Michelin-starred Restaurant Story will create an extraordinary pop-up at Beach Shack at the Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, from February 13 through February 18 and serve customers a lavish 6-course literary-inspired menu.

He will also spend an evening with the visitors reading from his best-selling book, “A Kind of Love Story,” during his visit. The book depicts the behind-the-scenes narrative of life in a world-class Michelin-starred restaurant and allows customers to view the truth behind his remarkable creations and the innovative mind of one of the most unique chefs of the 21st century.

Before turning 21, Chef Sellers honed his culinary skills under the tutelage of renowned chefs such as Tom Aikens in London, Thomas Keller at the three-Michelin-star Per Se in New York, and Rene Redzepi at the prestigious Noma in Copenhagen. Sellers, a prominent figure in the British culinary world, debuted his Restaurant Story in 2013 and, that same year, it received its first Michelin star.

As he combines fine dining with progressive and laid-back casual restaurant culture, His Restaurant Story offers a changing seasonal tasting menu that is praised for blending character, playfulness and ingredient-led philosophy into food. His culinary innovations are renowned for defying expectations and reflecting his own culinary journey, which has garnered him a great deal of praise from both the general people and the media.

Chef Sellers and his crew will take over the Beach Shack for five days during his residency at The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, and present a decorated meal influenced by tales and ingredients from London to the Maldives. A Tuna Tart and his preferred Oreo cookie are two of the dishes that are being promoted. Both are reminiscent of Sellers’ time spent in New York. The dish is repurposed as a savoury snack, and he serves his own take on the design.

A Maldivian Reef Fish with Plum Ponzu and Kaluga Caviar, a crudo that was inspired by Head Chef Daniel Khoury, a Peruvian, and a Maldivian Lobster Ragoul with Corn, Mushroom, and Lobster Cream, reflecting on his signature pop-up experience “Story by the Sea” in Cornwall, are among the other dishes the chef prepared. Red Snapper with Saffron, Mayonnaise, Soffritto, Red Pepper Fish Sauce, and Sauce Vierge, which is modelled after Thomas Keller’s ratatouille dish, is a delicious addition to these delightful entrees. The dish brings back memories for Sellers of his early years as an apprentice at the age of 18, as well as the craftsmanship that went into making it.
